We are changing the trip on April 25 to West Chickamauga Creek: Reeds Bridge to Dietz Rd. Low water levels on the Conasauga River are the reason for the change.
This will be a five mile, Class 1 trip that will take about three hours, with a break along the way.
Those that want to will gather afterward for food and drink.

Ironman 70.3 is the 1st of 2 annual Ironman events in Chattanooga. Volunteer safety boaters are a critical need for the event on the day of the event. Other volunteer opportunities are available starting Wednesday before the race. Registration will be via IM-provided links. Buck Meyer is IM Water Safety Captain and will be providing further details when available.

This is a 4.5 mile paddle down the North Chick Creek from Greenway Farms, then continuing onto the Tennessee River to lock-through the Chickamauga Dam. After locking through, the trip will cross the TN River and take out at the Chickamauga Marina ramp. This is a Class I trip of about 3-4 hours (wait time at lock is wild card!). Will head to a local restaurant after for some fun times.

Shellmound Picnic Area, Shellmound Campground, Kimball, TN

This is a 3.0 mile total paddle of about 4.5 hours. We will meet up at Shellmound, enjoy a potluck picnic (TVCC will bring some BBQ), then paddle across the TN River to the famous Nickajack Bat Cave and watch the bats emerge for their nightly rounds. An alternate put-in is available for families and others that don‘t want the excitement of crossing the TN River at night. The alternate put-in would be less than 1-mile total round trip.
ALL paddlers will need a 360-degree light for the night paddle to meet USCG and TN TWRA requirements.
Please note: all times are shown as Eastern Time Zone based on Chattanooga. The cave/Shellmound are located in Central Time. If you drive from the Chattanooga area, plan about 45-min to 1-hour drive time to the location.

Join TVCC and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Chattanooga for a rafting trip on the Hiwassee River. TVCC members serve as river guides for the Bigs and Littles on a trip from the Powerhouse Ramp to the Hiwassee Outfitters takeout.
The trip takes about 4 hours on Class II/III water.
TVCC needs volunteer raft guides to man the rafts (about 10) and a bunch of kayakers to play along with the trip.
Plan to meet at Hiwassee Outfitters at 11 a.m. Registered volunteers will receive additional information two days prior to the event.

South Chickamauga Creek: Shallowford to Sterchi Farm

This is an easy Class I trip of 5 miles / 3 hours. The trip is along a beautiful section of creek which parallels the elevated S. Chick Greenway trail and flows over 5 ancient native American fishing weirs. TVCC‘s own resident Civil War docent plans to be along on the trip to provide some interesting stories of action that took place along this section of the creek and at Sterchi Farms. Won‘t want to miss this trip.
Note: This is a Sunday trip due to parking limitations at the put-in ramp.

Rivermont Boat Ramp

This is an easy 5 mile / 2 hour trip on the Class I TN River from the Rivermont Ramp to Coolidge Park. We will head down river, taking a side trip up Citico Creek, before arriving near Ross‘s Landing at sunset (8:50 pm) then taking out at Coolidge Park.
Paddlers will need a 360 degree light for this trip.
